I am trying to incorporate some of the images from my cultural past. It has become more important to me as an artist to recognize the past as a part of my own history. It is not necessarily the past but certain cultural images or even symbolic identifiers of my culture... There is so much that other people do not know about the Navajo Indians; in a way they are just that: Indians, Native Americans, Natives, or Indigenious Peoples of the Americas, Southwest Indians, sort of an archaeological form of namimg and approach to identifying a society. With my paintings I will be trying to introduce, in my own way, the culture or people as it is,... so far.
